Overview

Located at 41 Bd Malesherbes in the heart of Paris, PAUL is more than just a sandwich shop—it is a quintessential French bakery experience that captures the city’s charm and culinary finesse. Known primarily for its delicate pastries and classic sandwiches, PAUL offers a menu that highlights traditional French flavors, with the Bûche de Noël standing out as a seasonal specialty that delights both locals and visitors alike.

Stepping inside, you are greeted by an inviting atmosphere where the aroma of freshly baked bread and buttery pastries permeates the air. The setting is perfect for those who appreciate a leisurely coffee while watching the world go by, as noted by patrons like Digna Ten Napel. This makes PAUL an ideal spot for locals, tourists, and anyone seeking an authentic taste of Parisian café culture.

The true star here is the baked goods. From flaky croissants to perfectly balanced quiches and rich ham and cheese baguettes, the variety caters to both light snacks and satisfying meals. Customers rave about the quality and craftsmanship of each item. As Lynn G mentions, the pastries inspire excitement with every bite, and the coffee experience, often disappointing in other Parisian stops, shines here with offerings like the Café viennoise.

Service at PAUL matches the high standard set by its menu. Friendly and attentive staff create a welcoming environment that enhances the overall visit, turning a simple meal into a memorable occasion. This dedication to hospitality, combined with outstanding selections like macarons and tarts, establishes PAUL as a must-visit for enthusiasts of French cuisine and bakery arts.

Its prime location in Paris’s 8th arrondissement makes it accessible for everyday visitors and food lovers alike, blending tradition with a vibrant café culture to offer an experience that goes beyond the plate.

It’s so good we’ve been excited about pastries every morning we’ve had in Paris this week. Today we had lunch too after walking right past everything on the way back from shopping Salmon and broccoli quiche for me… a ham n cheese baguette for my husband. We took delicious tarts back to the hotel and sat on the bed in heaven P.s. In my other trips to Paris I’ve always been disappointed by the coffee. Not this time…had a wonderful Cafe viennoise

Great service and selection of pastries! We bought croissants, and too many macarons to count! They were definitely some of the best in Paris, and the boxes are a great size and reasonable price to bring home.

My first taste of French baked goods was at Paul Bakery, and it was unforgettable! The pastry I had was not only delicious but also perfectly crafted. The balance of flavors was amazing—light, buttery, and flaky in just the right way. The service was exceptional as well. The staff was friendly and attentive, adding to the overall experience. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a place to sit and enjoy a pastry with coffee, Paul is the perfect spot.
